Older Volunteer Learners

The members of this sub-group are:

  • Dr Andrea Waxenegger (Leader), The University of Graz (AT)
  • Ramona Dragomir, Pro Vobis Volunteer Centre (RO)
  • Alzbeta Mrackova, C.A.R.D.O. (SK)
  • Stefanie Woll, University of Hamburg (DE)

The group is reviewing:

  • the existing provision of learning opportunities at universities and in the volunteering sector for older volunteers
  • models of access to ULLL for older volunteers as learners, including systems of accreditation
  • examples of collaboration between institutions in both sectors in developing & providing learning opportunities for older volunteers
  • specific collaboration projects – as “case studies” for more in depth learning
  • the barriers and potential for building cross-sectoral relationships and collaboration in the field of ULLL

WORKSHOP AT NETWORK MEETING- EUCEN CONFERENCE, JONKOPING, SE - NOVEMBER 2009

Age Platform Europe
AGE Platform Europe is a European network of around 150 organisations of and for people aged 50+  representing directly over 28 million older people in Europe. Web site includes pages on volunteering and lifelong learning in the Active Ageing section.

Project SET - Senior's Education and Training Knowledge Exchange
The fundamental goal of this project was to exchange information about education of seniors of the third age in four partnership countries. The partners of the project focused on typical forms of organizing lifelong education in their countries. (Website also available in Česky)

ASLECT project – Active Seniors Learn, Educate, Communicate and Transmit is a project approaching the presence of senior people within cultural organizations from a double perspective: as users/beneficiaries of educational and cultural programmes, and, equally, as learning resources for developing new programmes addressing the community.
